Our History
The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield was organized by approximately forty citizens after the liquidation of The First National Bank of Woodsfield. The name, The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield was selected by ballot from the several names submitted for consideration.
Shares of stock were sold for the new bank that opened with $50,000.00 in capital. Currently that amount has grown to over $10,000,000.00
CNB was granted a national bank charter on November 28, 1933 and opened its doors for business on December 7 of that same year. In 1977 a branch was built in Sardis, Ohio. In 1995 CNB Bancorp, Inc. was formed to be the holding company for The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield. The Barnesville branch was opened in 2007 and in 2012 a branch was opened in Quaker City, Ohio.
Since its opening in 1933 the banks assets have grown from $0 to over $140,000,000.00 while the staff has grown from 7 to over 30. Over this same period of time there have been only 7 bank presidents. They include Dr. O. C. Jackson, C. P. Schumacher, D. F. Diehl, Stanley J. Heft, Lonnie R. Henthorn, Carey N. Bott and the current president, T. Lance LaFollette, who has served in that capacity since 2011.
There are currently 7 directors at the bank, Chairman of the Board Randy C. Rubel, Richard A. Yoss, T. Lance LaFollette, Troy E. Kemp, John P. Jefferis, Jeffrey K. Turner, and Kimberly A. Jorris. These directors have well over 100 years combined experience at the bank.
