What the CNB Community Means to Us

Life isn’t the same without people to share it with. A home is built by the people in it, not just the place itself. A community isn’t just a location—it’s a shared mindset and the effort we put into it.

Our History

The foundation of our bank was built by the community of Woodsfield. Our doors opened in for business in 1933. Citizens National Bank has built a legacy of trust and service, growing with our community while staying committed to personalized banking and financial stability.

Origins

The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield was organized by approximately forty citizens after the liquidation of The First National Bank of Woodsfield.  The name, The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield was selected by ballot from the several names submitted for consideration.

Shares of stock were sold for the new bank that opened with $50,000.00 in capital. Currently that amount has grown to over $10,000,000.00.

1933

CNB was granted a national bank charter on November 28, 1933 and opened its doors for business on December 7 of that same year.

1977

In 1977 the bank began to expand. A branch was opened in Sardis, Ohio, which is still in operation today.

1995

In 1995 CNB Bancorp, Inc. was formed to be the holding company for The Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield.

2007-2012

The Barnesville branch was opened in 2007 and in 2012 a branch was opened in Quaker City, Ohio.

Here to Stay

Since its opening in 1933 the banks assets have grown from $0 to over $140,000,000.00 while the staff has grown from 7 to over 30.  Over this same period of time there have been only 7 bank presidents.  They include Dr. O. C. Jackson, C. P. Schumacher, D. F. Diehl, Stanley J. Heft, Lonnie R. Henthorn, Carey N. Bott and the current president, T. Lance LaFollette, who has served in that capacity since 2011.

There are currently 7 directors at the bank, Chairman of the Board Randy C. Rubel, Richard A. Yoss, T. Lance LaFollette, Troy E. Kemp, John P. Jefferis, Jeffrey K. Turner, and Kimberly A. Jorris.  These directors have well over 100 years combined experience at the bank.
